High Carbon Steel Wires

high-carbon-steel-wires
Description

High carbon steel wires are produced by cold drawing process from high carbon steel wire rods with carbon content of 0.35% - 1%. Each wire is manufactured for specific application according to international or user’s standards.

High carbon steel wires are supplied either bright (no coating) or coated. Widely used coatings are Phosphate coating, Zinc coating (galvanized), Galfan coating, Bronze coating, Brass coating, Nickel coating and others.

Usually, high carbon steel wires have higher tensile strength than low carbon steel wires, therefore used for tougher applications.

Application

High carbon steel wires are widely used for the manufacture of various wire products:

- Spring steel wires

steel-springs

Spring steel wires or music wires, phosphated, galvanized, Galfan, and Nickel coated

are used for the production of static and dynamic springs for various industries such as:

Automotive, building, agriculture, mattress and bedding, military, medical, electronics,

electricity, communication, etc…

- Oil tempered spring steel wires

Oil tempered springs

Oil tempered spring steel wires are made from unalloyed or alloyed steels.

They are primarily subject to tensional stresses such as in compression and extension

springs, particularly for the automotive industry.

Oil tempered spring steel wires are also used for the production of static and

dynamic springs including engine valve springs.

Among the oil tempered spring steel wires you can find Carbon, Chrome-Vanadium,

Chrome-Silicon and even Chrome-Silicon-Vanadium(+Nickel) wires.

- Weaving steel wires

Steel wire mesh

High carbon weaving steel wires are used for manufacture of wire mesh and screens

either weaved or welded, black or galvanized. They are used in high wear rate work

conditions such as in stone quarries.

- Tire bead wires

Tire bead wires are bronze coated high carbon steel wires mainly used for production

of vehicles rubber tires. Also tire bead wires are used for production of air conditioning

  flexible ducts.

- Galvanized high carbon steel wires

Galvanized high carbon steel wires are Zinc coated high carbon steel wires either dip

or electrically coated, and used for various general purposes.

Usually, as mentioned before, galvanized high carbon steel wires are used in the

    spring industry.

Standards & Dimensions

All international standards (EN, ASTM, AMS, JIS …) and producers’ standards and wide dimensions range, including shaped wires (round, oval, square, etc…) are quotable.

Packings

High carbon steel wires are supplied with the following packings :

Coils

Coil : The wire is winded into coil shape, tied with steel strappings and PVC or Jute wrapped.

Spider

Steel frame (spider) : The wire is winded on steel core, usually large weight coil.

Z2

Z2 : Coil with cardboard core.

Spools

Spool : The wire is winded on spool, usually used for thin wire.
